USS Point Defiance
LSD-31

Members of the USS Point Defiance Association served on the amphibious landing ship dock during its distinguished service from 1955 - 1983.  The association held its first reunion in Williamsburg, Virginia, in 1994 through the leadership of John Nicolosi, MM3, who served on Point Defiance from 1965-1969.  "Nick" Nicolosi founded the association and his leadership encouraged it to be come what it is today. His inspiration has seen the association grow from its meeting in 1996 to a yearly gathering of Point Defiance veterans. With the exception of the 2020 and 2021, groups of Point Defiance veterans have gathered yearly somewhere across the United States to renew acquaintances and relive memories. It now has more than 80 members, including plank owners, men who served, and associate members, including wives, children and other siblings.

The Point Defiance Association brings together veterans who served on the USSPD LSD-31 as well as associate members, family and/or guests who share a passion for preserving the legacy of USSPD LSD-31. Our goal is to ensure that the ship's history and the memories of those who served on it are passed down to future generations. We are committed to honoring the sacrifices made by those who served our country.

This website is dedicated to the gallant service of the men who served on USSPD LSD-31 and to the bonds of friendship that it forged among those sailors.
